Paranormal Project had the pleasure of investigating the Pomona Hotel just north of Brisbane. This building is full of stories and history with the location enduring a number of tragedies over the years.
Staff members told us that legend has it the infamous spirit that walks the halls of the hotel is Darby Schrieber, a local resident of Pomona and the hotel until his death. Paranormal Project has yet to find documents that support this but we are looking! The hotel itself also experienced a fire in 1913 in which the kitchen caught and spread quickly. The original building was burnt to the ground. In 1939 a fire engulfed a neighbouring property in which a number of deaths occur. Locals say the spiritual activity experienced at the Hotel is from the history of tragic death at the location. From the fires, stabbing deaths, shootings and suicide this location sure kept us busy with history.
From a technical perspective:
As far as evidence goes, we believe we may have captured an EVP which to us sounds like “get out” in one of the rooms above the hotel bar. We cross referenced our video data to ensure what we captured was none of our team members.
In this same room, Tabitha detected an extra set of footprints on the thermal imaging camera which we were unable to debunk at the time of the investigation. Presently we are still unable to debunk this via our video data.
We also believe we may have captured another voice, in the upstairs hallway, which we are unable to determine what is said. This unexplained EVP we are unable to verify or debunk with any video content.
The team decided we’d go back to the room, where we had the extra thermal footprints, and do a ghost box session. We could clearly hear a male and female voice speaking to us. As for what was said this is yet to be determined. We do not classify Instrumental-Trans Communication (ITC) as solid evidence.

From a spiritual/psychic perspective:
We went through restaurant first where Michelle picked up on an older man. Then she walked to the front left corner of the restaurant where she met a younger male spirit and felt constricted around her throat and heavy pressure on my respiratory system.
Michelle told the team she felt the energy in the entire place is dense and depressing.
We made our way to the accommodation rooms upstairs. Michelle feels an energy shift, and not a good one. This spirit seems to like people he can easily manipulate. Play mind games with. People who are only just barely there, just barely living.
Michelle tells the team that when this entity is around she feels like someone’s got their hands around mher throats and is trying to strangle her. She tells us that we are dealing with something very sinister that we don’t believe was ever human. Interestingly, during this time various demonic words were popping up on the Ovilus.
This entity is basically draining everyone who stays/works there. Convincing people who’ve experienced various challenges/traumas/tragedies.
Paranormal project has graciously been offered to investigate the hotel overnight in the near future. We look forward to another visit to this amazing location and what activity we may potentially find.
